I understand the cognitive, physical and social development of students and will explore their musical backgrounds through the formative assessment process, analysis of student performance, questioning and activating each students knowledge. Music has a pedagogy that has been proven to develop the areas of reading, math, language and comprehensive skills. Music is one of the few classes left in the curriculum that speaks to the intuitive, right side of the brain. Music activities can be a direct answer to state curriculum guides that mandate a differentiated curriculum from students identified as gifted and talented. And finally, Music allows for the study and appreciation of an art form that is vital to each student's education.
